Because you are defrosting for too long. Microwaving is based on a weight determining the time principle, which means you should know the weight of the steak before deciding the amount of defrosting time. Example: 500g thick steak should defrost for 6-9 minutes only.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon, mix with water to make up one cup and microwave for 2 minutes on High (100%)

Q. Why did I burn my bread roll in the oven when warming it?

Overheating small items of food can cause them to burn rapidly. One roll will reheat in 10 seconds, 6 rolls require 1 minute reheating time.

Q. What foods microwave well?

Fish, vegetables, fruit, poultry, rice, sauces and custards if you ensure you weigh them first to determine the length of the cooking time.

Q. The food won't cook?

Check the container first. Containers made of metallic glazed pottery block microwave energy. Look out for microwave safe plastic containers for efficient microwave cooking.
